Welcome Dotty (04/22/07)

My name is Dotty. I am taking up a journey in honor of my friend Winslow who was lost in the line of duty spreading the word about BookCrossing!

I will soon begin my own BC journey with my very own bookbox but first I need places to journey too...Who will host me in my travels?

04/28/07-The Journey Begins

05/12/07- Dotty arrived in Mars, Pennsylvania and met WestofMars

"Dottie is adorable and my daughter loves her."

05/13/07- Dotty leaves Mars

"As for Dotty, she can be seen with my cat Cooper checking out my blog, contemplating part of Mt. TBR, and hanging out with my bison on Mt. TBR but below part of my PC. She has picked up an orange bracelet, compliments of my daughter. Can't wait to hear about the rest of her travels! "

05/15/07-Dotty arrived in Medina, Ohio and met buocl

"Dotty is so cute! I received the box today, will journal again and plan to send her on her way this weekend!"

05/19/07-Dotty leaves Medina

"The first pic is of my son holding Dotty - he just loved her! And two days prior, he had helped me accomplish my goal of having breakfast in bed on Mother's Day (he helped me eat it!)The second pic is Dotty with a postcard I was about to address for postcrossing - my goal was to send my first postcrossing postcard. One more picture - Dotty with my bookshelves, to explain my goal of not buying any books for 3 months."

06/17-07-Dotty arrives and leaves Blythewood, South Carolina

07/10/07-Dotty arrives in the Yukon!

"Dottie, her camera, and her boxfull of books all arrived safely inWhitehorse today. Well, yesterday, actually, but I wasn't home so they kept her overnight at the postoffice 'til I could come and claim her. (She's very forgiving.) We had no trouble at all deciding which books to snag to stay here with me."

RIP Winslow

I am sad to say our friend, Winslow, has gone MIA after traveling to a not so honest person's home. We may never see him again. It is a sad day here at the Pookie Moose home.

Winslow will be missed.

Winslow is leaving Ohio...

Picture #2 - Winslow with pumpkins

Our family has a pumpkin patch out at my parents farm. During the month ofOctober, we have "Pumpkin Junction" at the farm. People can wander throughthe pumpkin patch and pick their own. We have hayrides, corn stalks, homemade pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, and cookies, hot chocolate and cider. We have crafts and face painting and a bonfire when the weather is cold.Unfortunately, Winslow didn't arrive during Pumpkin Junction, but we'vestill been out there breaking everything down and getting rid of the lastof the pumpkins before they rot. We brought a few more home - 2 "blue"ones, a bright orange one called a "fairytale" pumkpin, and a pie pumpkin,or "orange smoothy" that we'll bake for Thanksgiving. We took a picture ofWinslow with the pumpkins, and tomorrow he'll head out to tammysavala's inMissouri.

Bye Winslow!

Winslow is in Ohio!

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

Winslow arrived at our house on Tuesday, safe and sound. He went to workwith me on Wednesday, and as luck would have it, we had a beautiful Indiansummer day. So at lunchtime, we left the office and walked through downtownCincinnati and across the Purple People Bridge into Kentucky. As we walkedacross the Ohio River, I explained to Winslow that the Ohio River actuallybelongs to Kentucky. We saw a barge pass beneath us, and when we got to theKentucky side, we walked around Newport-on-the-Levy, which is a prettylittle built-up area of restaurants and bars. It's an especially popularspot at night because the view of Cincinnati lit up across the river isspectacular.

As we walked back over to Cincinnati, I took Winslow's picture on thePurple People Bridge with part of the Cincinnati skyline in the background. It's lucky we went when we did. Today it was rainy and cold and tomorrowthere's a chance of snow. Guess I won't get to take many more walks atlunchtime for a while.

At first Scott was sad about Winslow leaving. After a quick pep talk they both felt better about parting for a short while. Posted by Picasa

Here I am with my Book Box! I am hoping to visit 10 states along with my books (and my camera)! I intend on visiting 10 states and then taking a break at home before visiting 10 more states! I sure hope that I can find people who want to share their adventures with me. Posted by Picasa
